We are the Life Satisfaction and Excellence Lab, a research lab at the University of Florida that aims to create, enhance, and maintain communities of effective and satisfied individuals. We develop and conduct studies that examine factors related to achieving one’s goals and enhancing one’s life satisfaction.

Our lab is completely undergraduate-based. The students in our lab complete all parts of the research process themselves, along with the help of our advisor Dr. Martin Heesacker. We brainstorm research ideas, run the studies, analyze the results, and even write the manuscripts! This is a great research opportunity for undergraduate students interested in graduate school for counseling psychology and/or industrial/organizational psychology. Our lab values community and strives to create a space where like-minded peers can connect (both with each other and to the greater field of psychology) through teamwork, leadership, and social support effort.
WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
At the beginning of every new school semester, we open applications for undergraduate students at UF who are interested in getting involved with the lab. We select new research assistants to join our team based on an application, resume, and interviewing process. After being selected, students are expected to attend weekly General Body Meetings and make a minimum of a 2-semester commitment. We always look for applicants who are motivated, innovative team players who display high levels of personal initiative. If you are interested in getting involved, make sure to follow us on Instagram (@lselab.uf) so that you don’t miss out when applications come out! We look forward to reading your application!
